We might be in the heart of the Jumps season as the Cheltenham Festival gets ever closer but it's also time to turn attention towards the 2018 Flat season and we have two really exciting ownership opportunities to provide plenty of excitement for the summer.

We have already secured one winner from one runner in 2018 and we hope that these two Flat horses will provide us with plenty more cheer in our 50th anniversary year.

Racegoers Club Racing Manager Will Aitkenhead said: “These are two very exciting ownership opportunities for 2018 and we’re delighted to offer them at such attractive prices. Both Clive Cox and Richard Fahey are established Group One level trainers with track records for getting the best out of all horses.

"They are also both very accommodating with their time and a visit to either yard is well worth the trip. In our 50th year we’re looking forward to plenty of excitement and thrills both on and off the track and hope you will all join in the fun.”

We look forward to welcoming many of you to our Ownership Groups for 2018 and if you’ve never been involved in our ownership groups before and want to find out more about the ownership experience with the Racegoers Club and buy your shares today visit our website or give us a call on 01344 625 912.

Clive Cox Owners Group 2018

We are delighted to have once again team up with Clive Cox to offer an exciting southern based Flat Owners Group for 2018.

Clive has enjoyed remarkable success in recent years including training Royal Ascot winners Heartache, My Dream Boat and Profitable in the last two seasons. His current stable star is of course Cartier Champion Sprinter in 2017 Harry Angel, dual Group One winner last year including victory in the July Cup at Newmarket.

Based in Lambourn at Beechdown Farm Stables, Clive has been affiliated with the Racegoers Club for a couple of years and provided us with a special moment when Glacier Point won last year at Chepstow. Clive enjoyed his best two seasons in 2016 and 2017 with 53 and 52 winners respectively.

lethal force colt

This time we are joining forces with him with a two-year-old Lethal Force colt and Clive knows the family well having trained both Lethal Force and the dam Malilla.

Clive trained Lethal Force to win the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2013 and he went on to win the July Cup in the same year. That performance gave him his highest ever official rating of 121. Last year saw his first progeny hit the track and during the 2017 season 21 of his two-year-olds were winners from 55 horses, a strike rate of 38%.

This exciting two-year-old colt is out of a mare called Malilla, who was also trained by Clive. In a lovely coincidence she won her maiden on the same card at Newbury when Lethal Force won the Group Two Hungerford Stakes on 18 August 2012. The maiden that Malilla won that day included Talent back in third who went on to win the Oaks the next year.

Clive Cox said, “I’m delighted to be training for the Racegoers Club again and think we’ve found a really exciting horse to hopefully bring us some success. We had a lot of fun last year with Glacier Point and with any luck we can repeat that.

"It’s early days with him of course but he’s working with all our other two-year-olds so far and moves well. He's worked upsides another horse for the first time this morning which went very well.

"I've got an A team of 13 two-year-olds at the moment and he's in there. We've done all the x-rays of his knees and crucial joints which came back A1 and I'm very happy so far. He’s got a good step and nice long neck as Lethal Force did – hopefully he can use it to get his head in front for us!”

We have the colt on a two year lease initially and this Group will run from March 1 through to the end of 2018. Early subscribers will have the opportunity to suggest a name for the colt and own a share for just £295.

colt gallops

Clive has entered the colt at the first stage for the Weatherbys Racing Bank £300,000 2-year-old Stakes at Doncaster on Thursday 13 September during the St Leger meeting. The race is open to any two-year-olds whose sire established one or more yearling sales during 2017 and the weights for the race are determined by the median price of a horse’s sire's yearlings sold in 2017 and he would look to have a lovely weight for the race subject to any penalties and it could be an exciting long term target.

Richard Fahey Owners Group 2018

Our 2018 Flat Ownership group in the north is with our year-old-filly Swiss Belle who is in training with Richard Fahey at Musley Bank in Malton.

A winner on her debut in February she is a very exciting prospect for this coming season and should improve plenty for her debut performance.

By Swiss Spirit and out of a mare called Belatorio there is plenty of speed in the pedigree while there is also stamina in the shape of Belatorio’s half-brother Sword Fighter who won the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot over 2m in 2016.

The year ahead looks very exciting with Swiss Belle as both Richard and Paul Hanagan are confident she will improve for her first run and get further as well.

Swiss Belle is bred by Whitsbury Manor Stud who the Racegoers Club have enjoyed remarkable success with in recent times. Having had four fillies from Whitsbury race in our colours now, Swiss Belle was the fourth of them to record a win and keep up the 100% record.

Richard Fahey said, “I’m really looking forward to the year ahead with Swiss Belle and although she didn’t run as a two-year-old she showed plenty of ability when winning on debut.

"We’ve always been pleased with what she does at home and I feel she’ll improve for that run from an experience point of view so we’re hopeful she can go on and give us all plenty of excitement and fun.”

Paul Hanagan added: "I'm was so thrilled with the win because we know she'll improve for the run. She picked up really well and pricked her ears when she got to the front so she should stay a bit further as well.

"She has a great attitude and temperament which we knew from her homework and hopefully she can give everybody lots to look forward to."

You can view her full pedigree, history and replay of her win here.

We are offering you the chance to buy a share in this group for just £295 which covers all costs for the year. Click here to buy your share today.
