Fridays Market Movers

Posted 4 years ago

Every Friday our Friends at Oddschecker compile a few of the market movers for the day and weekend specially for Racegoers Club, featured races will depend on market activity and this morning the All Weather is de rigueur...

The first of today’s market movers is in the 14.00 at Lingfield Park where FREE ZONE is a well-backed favourite of the Betway Best Odds Guaranteed Plus Claiming Stakes over 6f. Lee Carter’s 8yo has won nine races from 5f to 6f in his 63 race career and although now clearly a shadow of his former self, he was successful when last tried in claiming company in November last year and the veteran has not been running badly in handicaps since that victory. As big as 5/2 with some bookmakers on first showing last night, he’s now as short as 11/8 (best price 13/8).

Over at Dundalk this evening, trainer George Baker has sent GUARD OF HONOUR from his Wiltshire base for the 19.00 2m Handicap. Although the 6yo didn't perform as well in a Class 2 event on the Tapeta surface at Newcastle last time out, he's been placed on Polytrack at Lingfield so should have no problems with the surface and punters appear to think he can make the long journey pay. 10/3 with one bookmaker yesterday evening, he’s been backed into favouritism and is as short as 13/8 in places (best price 15/8).

Also at Dundalk this evening, HONOUR ROLL has been supported at big prices for trainer John Joseph Murphy in the 18.00 Maiden. The once-raced 3yo caught the eye when finishing a 7l sixth of 14 on his racecourse debut over course and distance in December last year. The booking of in-form jockey Colin Keane (enjoyed a three-timer at the course last week) is another positive sign and the market has responded in kind, the 14/1 on offer last night has now gone and some firms are now as short as 4/1 (best price 7/1).

Finally, in the first race of the day there’s been money for MACS KYLLACHY in the 13.00 1m Handicap at Lingfield. Unplaced in all three starts to date including when beaten 11l when seventh of 13 on his latest outing at Kempton over 7f in November last year, Daniel Muscutt’s 3yo goes handicapping at modest level on very workable mark. Obviously expected to improve for the move into handicap company, punters have backed him in from 12/1 this morning into 5/1 in places (best price 13/2).
