Rancho Montoya has been a bit of a diva at Andrew Balding’s yard. She will only work on the treadmill and has to be boxed to the gallops! However there was no sign of these antics when she made her debut at Kempton on 19 June. Badly in need of the run, she ran a great race to finish fourth. Members cheered her on from their very own viewing box. With improvement to come, she has a bright future and is declared to run at Kempton on 6 August.

Rancho Montoya after her pleasing debut

Tribal Path looked a world beater when winning at Lingfield in January but disappointed on two subsequent starts. Shamouti ran a race full of promise on her Ripon debut but didn’t build on that at Pontefract next time. Both horses have undergone surgery to correct breathing problems which were holding them back, so hopefully we will see much improved performances when they return to the track. Tribal Path is entered at Haydock Park on Thursday 8 August and Leicester on Sunday 11 August.
