Ten To Follow Update (01.08.2018)

It was another action packed fortnight of racing, with the Weatherbys Super Sprint Weekend at Newbury and King George weekend at Ascot.

It was tough going at Newbury with only three players scoring points over the two days. Adele Brown and Paul Stacey gained a crucial 20 points as Natalie's Joy won the Rose Bowl Stakes. She popped out in front under Frankie Dettori and cruised through the race. She was briefly challenged in the final furlong before quickening up well and was a ready winner. The only other points scorer that weekend was Yafta, who narrowly won the Hackwood Stakes from Projection. Jim Crowley settled him in mid-division, and made steady headway two furlongs from home. He was ridden to dispute the lead entering the final furlong and kept on gamely to fend off the challengers. This could prove a valuable 25 points for Judy Atkinson come the end of the season.

Last weekend at Ascot players where treated to a great renewal of the King George Vi and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. The market was dominated by the Sir Michael Stoute pair of Poet's Word and Crystal Ocean and this two delivered an epic finish. Crystal Ocean was always up with the pace and took up the lead two furlongs from home. He looked to have stolen a couple of lengths before Poet's Word delivered his challenge. In the last 75 yards Poet's Word gradually wore down Crystal Ocean and won by a neck giving Sir Michael a record sixth win in the race.

All scores for Glorious Goodwood will be updated next Wednesday.
