Sandown

It has been another exciting fortnight in the Flat season with Newcastle staging the Northumberland Plate Meeting and Sandown hosting the Eclipse. There was a total of 10 opportunities for points, with the Eclipse at Sandown offering an extra 20 bonus points.

Despite some quality racing at Newcastle there was no points for winners. Smart Call finally got her first Group win since coming over from South Africa in commanding fashion and Withhold made it two from two in major handicaps winning the Northumberland Plate.

This weekend at Sandown provided some enthralling racing as Saxon Warrior and Roaring Lion faced off in a renewal of the Guineas and Derby. Roaring Lion managed to prevail in a scintillating finish to give Oisin Murphy his first Group 1.  Judicial scooped the Coral Charge for five lucky players. Meanwhile over at Haydock Horseplay won the Lancashire Oaks.
