The first winner came at Sandown Park in the Listed Virgin Bet Contenders Hurdle. Five lined up at the start and it was a going day for the enigma that is Goshen who cruised home to win by 15 lengths. Well done to David Marshall who was the only player to keep the faith with Goshen and score 20 points.
Up at Wetherby Ahoy Senor scored in the Grade 2 William Hill Towton Novices' Chase. It was a comfortable win in the end and the Lucinda Russell trained horse now looks set to head to one of the big festivals at Cheltenham or Aintree.
