Ten to Follow 03.07.2019

This update includes:

  • Point scoring action from Newcastle, Newmarket and Royal Windsor
  • A popular Group 3 victory for Ten to Follow players

There have been six point scoring opportunities for Ten to Follow players since the last update. The action started on Friday on the Tapeta at Newcastle with the Group 3 Hoppings Filles’ Stakes. This race saw Sun Maiden put in a good performance to justify favouritism for Sir Michael Stoute and Jim Crowley. Congratulations to John Stephens who was the only player to pick the winning horse and gain 25 points.

Saturday saw Newmarket play host to three point scoring races. The first of these was the Listed Empress Fillies’ Stakes where Summer Romance put in a dominant performance to record a six-length victory for trainer Charlie Appleby and jockey James Doyle. The Criterion Stakes came next and Limato, back at the scene of his finest victory, came out on top to take the Group 3 contest after battling hard to beat rival Glorious Journey by just a neck. The third points race at Newmarket was the Listed Fred Archer Stakes where Wells Farhh Go came back with a bang for Tim Easterby and David Allan to win by four lengths.

There was also Listed action at Royal Windsor Racecourse. The Midsummer Stakes provided Matterhorn with an opportunity to prove that he can be as good on the turf as the all-weather, and the Johnston horse put in an impressive performance to make virtually all and win by two lengths. However, neither Matterhorn, or any of the winners at Newmarket were picked by any Ten to Follow players and so no points were scored.

The same can’t be said though of Invincible Army’s emphatic win in the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle. The James Tate trained horse readily defied a penalty to score by over two lengths and provide 25 points for 56 Ten to Follow teams.

With only two races scoring any points for players the leader board remains relatively unchanged with 12 teams tied for first place. The full leader board can be viewed here.
