Ballymore Leamington Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2)—Mossy Fen

The Unibet Silviniaco Conti Chase was much talked about in the week preceding the race, and eventually a field of five lined up at Kempton Park. The favourite was recent Peterborough Chase winner Top Notch, however it was the 2018 Ryanair Chase hero Frodon that came out on top under the guidance of Bryony Frost. This was the best result of the week for players with 48 teams securing 30 points.

Over at Warwick there were two Grade 2 contests for us to enjoy, and it was Two For Gold that struck first under David Bass. The Kim Bailey trained gelding rallied gamely after the last to get in front and win by half a length. Well done to Mary Lyden who was the only player to select Two For Gold and score 30 points. The final point scorer for players was the Nigel Twiston-Davies trained Mossy Fen who stayed on well towards the finish to lead. Congratulations to Trevor Shaw and Nick Marriott who both picked the winner and secured 30 points apiece.

With only a limited number of teams scoring points in the past week there hasn’t been much change at the top of the table. Jonathan Nuttall still leads with a score of 280 with Alan Wellsteed hot on his heels on 275. The full standings can be viewed here.
